5 Days of Fun
The 5 Days of Fun events typically occur around the third week of July, and takes place Wednesday through Sunday.
2008 Schedule: July 23 - July 27
Wednesday: Day One:
KOWZ Radio has adopted this day to treat the community with free ice cream in Central Park downtown, as well as provide music in the band shell. This is considered the kickoff to Crazy days.
Thursday Day Two:
Crazy Days begins at 7 a.m.! OBP business feature some of their best sales of the year on the sidewalks an in their stores with the 100 and 200 block of Cedar Avenue blocked to all traffic. At 9 a.m. the Kiddy Parade trots down Cedar Avenue ending in Central Park. Activities in the park include kid’s games, face painting and food vendors. The games last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the food vendors serve all day from 7a.m. (or when they open) until concert time or after. The 11 @ 7 Concert Series on this night is generally the community band.
Friday Day Three:
Crazy Days continues at the local merchants during regular shopping hours.
The Hog Roast and Street Dance kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Cedar Avenue (downtown)- serving pork sandwiches, beans and potato salad – kid’s meals also available. OBP also hosts a snack and soda table, available throughout the night and the Owatonna KC Club is on sight with a beer wagon. Live music begins at 7 p.m. lasting until 10:30 p.m. Tickets are sold in advance and at the door for this event. This is a family orientated event and people are encouraged to bring there children.
Saturday Day Four:
Crazy Days continue: however, the streets are not blocked off. The annual Festival of Arts also takes place in Central Park.
